Everyone spends a great deal of time to take care of their skin or hair, but we always forget to take care of our hands. This is a big mistake as the skin on our hands is pretty fragile and is among the first body parts that shows the signs of aging. Ugly looking hands can really ruin your appearance as they are always exposed, which is why we need to take good care of them.

The skin on the hands contains almost no fat. As the aging process advances, the collagen and elastin fibers in the hands start deteriorating, which can become quite noticeable over time. Add to this the damaging effects of the environment, the constant hand and dish washing and other elements, and you’ve got a recipe for disaster. All of this can ruin the appearance of your hands and make you look older.

Many people spend thousands of dollars on expensive creams or treatments which rarely work. However, you should know that are simple natural ingredients which will nourish your hands with nutrients and give them the care they deserve. Here are some of them:

Potatoes

Potatoes can make your hands silky smooth and soft. Bake one medium-sized potato in the oven, then mash it finely and add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and honey each and a bit of milk and mix everything well. Use the mixture on your hands 2-3 times a week – leave it to work for 15 minutes before rinsing with water in the end.

Eggs

Eggs can significantly improve the elasticity of your skin. Separate some egg whites and mix them with a tablespoon of honey, then apply the mixture on your hands and let it dry. Rinse with soap and lukewarm water in the end and repeat the process every day for best results.

Rosehip oil

Apply rosehip oil on your hands every day to improve the firmness and elasticity of your skin.

To treat the so-called “age spots” on your hands you need to mix 2 teaspoons of sugar with a bit of fresh lemon juice and rub the mixture on your hands. This will exfoliate your skin and stimulate microcirculation, effectively improving the appearance of your hands.

To keep your hands hydrated in the summer or winter, we suggest applying some almond oil on them. Next, soak your hands in cold water for 5 minutes, then apply your favorite moisturizer and leave it overnight. This will nourish your skin with essential nutrients and hydrate your hands as well.

To keep the skin on your hands, healthy and strong, you need to stop biting your nails and avoid using hot water often. Wear gloves in the winter to protect your hands from the cold and the wind, which can leave them stripped of nutrients and dry.
